Bradford County public safety director resigns after drug charge

Pennsylvania State Police at Towanda conducted a traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. Sept. 11 on state Route 220 in Athens Township.

Troopers reported a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle when they contacted the driver, 55-year-old Jeffrey Keith Scarboro, of Towanda.

Troopers...determined Scarboro was in possession of drug paraphernalia, and charges were filed with District Magistrate Court, state police said.

The chief clerk of the Bradford County commissioners confirmed that Scarboro resigned as public safety director as of 4 p.m. Monday.
