COVID positivity rate spikes to 2.37pc, highest in 50 days: Asad Umar

Asad Umar, in a tweet, said that such high positivity ratio was recorded on August 23. He also revealed that in first four days of current week, coronavirus has claimed an average of 11 lives per day which is highest since second week of august.

He further said that the positivity rate of the disease is extremely high in Muzaffarabad and remains high in Karachi too while Lahore and Islamabad are also witnessing increase in the cases.

The federal minister said that the...e are unmistakable signs of rise in coronavirus and urged everyone to take SOPs regarding coronavirus seriously.

He warned that if precautionary measures are not followed, government will be forced to take restrictive actions which have negative effects on livelihoods of people.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 13 deaths in last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 321,218. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 6,614.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 755 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.

Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
