DEP hosts tree identification walk Feb. 28 on Ashokan Rail Trail

The walk will start at 1 p.m. at the Boiceville Bridge Trailhead parking lot off state Route 28A. Department ecologists will lead the walk and show participants how to identify trees and shrubs that commonly grow in the Catskills. They'll show how to recognize the physical features of each species, including their buds and bark. 

Registration for the walk is required, as participation is limited to 12 people. Register online at or by finding the event on the NYC Watershed Facebook page.
