Jomar Gonzalez, 24, died from multiple stab wounds he suffered about 9 p.m. Tuesday at 8826 U.S. Route 209 in Wawarsing, police said. That address is south of the village of Ellenville and about 1.5 miles north of the Sullivan County line.

Tiquan Underwood, 21, of Fallsburg, was arrested later Tuesday night and charged with the felony of manslaughter, police said. They did not say where the arrest occurred.

Trooper Steven Nevel, the public information officer for state police Troop F, declined to discuss a possible motive for the stabbing. Nevel also said he did not know wh...t type of weapon was used or whether it was recovered.

Underwood was arraigned in Wawarsing Town Court and was being held in the Ulster County Jail on Wednesday in lieu of $25,000 bail. He is to return to the court at 8:30 a.m. Friday for a preliminary hearing, though such hearings sometimes are pre-empted by grand jury action.
