Next week, the monument and flags will be removed from the work area, and tree removal will begin, according to a press release from the city of Kingston. Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., the city said, brief traffic stoppages of less than five minutes apiece might occur. Additional site work, including overhead sign removal and lighting, is to continue with little to no impact on traffic.
Fines for speeding in work zones are double the usual amount, and convictions for two or more speeding violations in a work zone can result in the suspension of a person's driver's license.
...The cost of the roundabout is being funded entirely with state and federal money. The city of Kingston, though, will pay for underground water and sewer line work at the site.
