Town Supervisor Michael Baden said the Rondout Valley school district deciding to start the 2020-21 academic year with online-only instruction is a strong indicator that group activities among young people should not be held yet.
"Our after-school program involves two elementary schools. ... We would run into a real problem bringing them into contact with each other here,” Baden said.
The town of Rochester's after-school program typically draws a total of 40 students from the Rondout district's Marbletown and Kerhonkson elementary schools.
“I don’t really have ... good solution,” Baden said. “I know the ... program is very valuable to many parents.”
